What pisses me off…
You know what pisses me off? I tried to learn to draw for a long time. I wasn’t even trying to be a great artist. I understood what I wanted to do. I wanted to consistently portray recognizable characters and actions in a way that would allow me to draw a comic. The results weren’t pretty, they were ugly. I constantly erred in a way that was so aesthetically displeasing that I couldn’t make myself continue.
If I’m mad at you sometime, maybe I’ll find some of my old attempts, scan them in, and make you look at them with your eyelids stapled open.
Anyway, the point… Sometimes I find a comic like Beaver and Steve, or Achewood. It’s simlple, and elegant. I look at it and think that it’s the sort of thing I ought to be able to do. But, I can’t. That pisses me off.
They’re both funny too. That doesn’t help things.
p.s. This isn’t a name dropping post. I found Beaver and Steve and wanted to share. I just threw in Achewood as an example. Everybody already reads it.
